Mark 15 - Text

Santa Claus,

I don't see any point in writing to someone that I don't believe in really. However, the City has decided that it's a requirement for the day. Something overly vexing at best so forgive me while I make sure to let you know why I'm not interested in believing in you.

I was told early on that you were some foolish thing the Mundanes believe in as children. That in reality this spirit of Christmas was rather pointless at best since gifts were best when not expected. One would value them more at that time. Though winters could be pleasant, my father made sure I learned that lesson well. It was a good lesson really if one thinks about it.

Still, if it is insisted upon that I write to request something then bring something for the girls. They would probably enjoy that.

Not Believing in Childish Fantasies,
Jace Lightwood

Is Santa Father Christmas, then?

[identity profile] 1charmingangel.livejournal.com 2011-12-07 11:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Father Christmas, Saint Nicholas, Kris Kringle, Sinterklaas... He has numerous names depending on the legend you go with.

[identity profile] likeboudica.livejournal.com 2011-12-07 11:02 pm (UTC)(link)
I do know most of them, but I was not aware that Santa Claus belonged to the same group.

[identity profile] 1charmingangel.livejournal.com 2011-12-07 11:15 pm (UTC)(link)
If you do research on him, he's in that grouping.

[identity profile] likeboudica.livejournal.com 2011-12-07 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
That is good to know. I was a little puzzled that everyone was writing to someone named Santa.

[identity profile] 1charmingangel.livejournal.com 2011-12-07 11:19 pm (UTC)(link)
It's some tradition amongst the mundy that if they write to him, he'll bring them what they want for Christmas.

[identity profile] likeboudica.livejournal.com 2011-12-07 11:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Mundy? The mundanes, I assume?

[identity profile] likeboudica.livejournal.com 2011-12-08 10:35 am (UTC)(link)
Downworlders, Mundanes and Shadowhunters. [ In order of worthiness of respect, as understood by Shadowhunters from her time, from lowest to highest. ]

[identity profile] likeboudica.livejournal.com 2011-12-08 09:27 pm (UTC)(link)
I was reading about it before I came here.

[identity profile] 1charmingangel.livejournal.com 2011-12-08 10:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Sounds like an incredibly dry read.

[identity profile] likeboudica.livejournal.com 2011-12-09 06:55 am (UTC)(link)
I thought it rather fascinating.

[identity profile] likeboudica.livejournal.com 2011-12-09 07:34 am (UTC)(link)
Perhaps so, but the knowledge is invaluable.

[identity profile] likeboudica.livejournal.com 2011-12-10 08:15 am (UTC)(link)
Yes.

[ And after a moment: ] But is it not better to know, even if the truth hurts, than to remain ignorant?

[identity profile] 1charmingangel.livejournal.com 2011-12-10 10:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Depends on what the truth is.

[identity profile] likeboudica.livejournal.com 2011-12-11 06:23 am (UTC)(link)
I think I should always prefer to know the truth.

[identity profile] mghtbconcussed.livejournal.com 2011-12-08 02:10 am (UTC)(link)
Awww Jace, you know you're still getting presents from me.

[identity profile] 1charmingangel.livejournal.com 2011-12-08 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
You wouldn't be you otherwise.
feorge: (to fit my underwear;)

[personal profile] feorge 2011-12-08 03:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Blimey. Think you're the first bloke to manage making Christmas sound like a bad thing.

[identity profile] 1charmingangel.livejournal.com 2011-12-08 09:26 pm (UTC)(link)
That was what it was like growing up with my father.
feorge: (with the me inside;)

[personal profile] feorge 2011-12-09 05:45 pm (UTC)(link)
You ought to spend the day with our lot, then. We'll show you how it's meant to be done.

[identity profile] 1charmingangel.livejournal.com 2011-12-09 09:46 pm (UTC)(link)
There's a way it's meant to be done?
feorge: (with the pork and beans;)

[personal profile] feorge 2011-12-09 11:12 pm (UTC)(link)
'course there is. Exchanging gifts and eating great food's not all terrible, you know.

[identity profile] 1charmingangel.livejournal.com 2011-12-09 11:15 pm (UTC)(link)
You sure about that? It sounds so painful.
feorge: (i eat my candy;)

[personal profile] feorge 2011-12-09 11:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I know. Horrible thing, that. Not to worry, I'll be on the lookout for any wily mashed turnips and have bandages on the ready if you cut yourself on any wrapping paper.

[identity profile] 1charmingangel.livejournal.com 2011-12-09 11:28 pm (UTC)(link)
You make wrapping paper sound terrifying.
feorge: (that transform a tool;)

[personal profile] feorge 2011-12-09 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Don't let it fool you. It's on par with the level five classification of magical creatures. Deadly, particularly the ones with photos of penguins.

[identity profile] 1charmingangel.livejournal.com 2011-12-10 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
Photos of penguins. This just gets deadlier.
feorge: (with the me inside;)

[personal profile] feorge 2011-12-10 05:58 am (UTC)(link)
Indeed. Think you're up to the task?

[identity profile] 1charmingangel.livejournal.com 2011-12-10 05:59 am (UTC)(link)
I hunt monsters. I can handle this.
feorge: (if i make a scene;)

[personal profile] feorge 2011-12-10 07:00 am (UTC)(link)
Excellent. We'll be expecting you Christmas morn', then.

[identity profile] 1charmingangel.livejournal.com 2011-12-10 07:15 am (UTC)(link)
So this means I have to go find presents for people, right?
